Project Key Features

El Jardin de Selene is a 12 story, 92,000 square foot mixed-use, affordable housing project including 2,000 square feet of community space, laundry room and outdoor courtyard at the second level. The building also includes 6,000 square feet of commercial space and over 12,000 square feet of structured parking.

Designed with a variety of sustainable aspects including daylight and occupancy sensors in common areas; energy star fixtures and appliances; bamboo flooring; green roofs at setbacks; recycled content; energy efficient windows; and horizontally distributed ventilation and solar panels on the building's roof.

Achieved LEED-Gold rating, NYSERDA Energy Star certified and Enterprise Green Communities compliant, El Jardin is one of the first buildings of its kind in the Bronx.

  

Green Energy and Energy Efficiency Features

PV array designed to a max 12 kWh output, to power the common load in the building.

Energy Star rated appliances in all units, high performance windows, compact florescent lighting, CO2 monitoring and occupancy sensors.

Low VOC paints, finishes and composite wood products targeting 20% recycled content and 20% regional products, and rapidly renewable material LEED credits.

Extensive green roofs over 3,325 square feet, and a green roof underlayment at the entire 2nd Floor courtyard, measuring an additional 1,580 square feet, low-flow fixtures for bathrooms, lavatory faucets at 0.5 gpm, and dual flush toilets with 1.1/1.6 gpf.

Fuel type is gas-fired hot water heating; no central cooling.
